When The World Falls Apart Some Things Stay In Place

Honesty

Until recently I never liked country. It's when I decided to sit down and actually listen to the lyrics did I really start to enjoy it. These rednecks own their shit and I like people who own their shit, good and bad.

HOF.

Korea has different styles of bar. There's the hotel bars, the bookings bars (where waiters bring lady customers to men's tables), Izakayas, western bars, etc and then there's the chicken and beer bars called HOFs. I really miss the chicken and beer bars, what could be better than fried chicken and a cold beer w/cubes of sweet pickled daikon. It's heavenly and I want it now.

MGMT reminds me of my days of revelry in Laos floating down the Nam Song river. Here is a leaked sample of their new album

To Bang Or Not To Bang

I'm bored with how I look, should I cut my hair?

Highline It.

My friend, Ethan Minsker is a filmmaker. He and his wife, Un head the Antagonist Art Movement. Here is one of the videos he shot on the Highline. I (heart) the Highline.

Every Day Is a Holiday

I found this hilarious card Ed sent me years ago. A brilliant and good-hearted man now all famous and shit. Fame and respect that is well-deserved.

The Man

I (heart) Anthony Bourdain. Anthony Bourdain published a book of his memoirs, Kitchen Confidential in 2000. In 2005, Darren Starr turned it into a television series starring dreamy Bradley Cooper. Sadly, after one season it was canceled. Good for us that it still exists on Hulu and you can watch it by clicking here or http://bit.ly/aOIhje.

Revelry Squared

Happy St. Pats. A day when amateur, belligerent assholes come out to revel.

We saw a 16 year-old girl, head to toe in green, crying and puking her brains out at 11:30 am in front of the deli. It went something like, puke, cry, puke, cry, puke, cry. Good times.

Happy St. Pats to my travel partner and only real Irish friend from Dublin, Adam Sherry. I'll see your face in Argentina! Werd.

ST. PATS FUN FACTS

*St. Patrick was actually of Scottish descent, not Irish, and contrary to popular folklore he never chased any snakes out of Ireland.

*St. Patrick’s isn’t a big drinking holiday in Ireland. In fact, many of the local pubs are closed for the day.

*At one time, there were more Irish living in New York City, than in Dublin, Ireland.

Really?

The other night I went to The Breslin (April Bloomfield's new gastropubby joint) and the table next to me asked what head cheese was and when the waitress said it was made from the head of a pig the man asked, earnestly, "Can I get swine flu from it?"

I just wanted to turn to him and tell him that God don't like stupid.

Little Bit.

I started listening to this new (to me) Swedish indie singer, Lykke Li . Her music is so sugary...sugary pop. The video below, Little Bit is worded so simply, yet it's really honest and very eloquently put. It's about a girl who is breaking down her walls, little by little, to be vulnerable to love *sigh*.
